Te Puawānanaga Science and Technology Centre
Feel the power of Te Puawānanga, our new science and technology centre! With three distinct spaces to experience, tamariki can surround themselves with the magic of more science, more technology and hands-on exhibitions.
There is a play space for under 5s, a science space for engaging experiences, and an innovation space with everything from STEM demonstrations to collection displays.
During these summer holidays, take part in measurement experiments, hands-on design challenges in the Te Manawa Science Alive Magic Box and play with tessellation patterns. Can you help us feed our energy machine? Learn all about the types of energy and power we need produced, like kinetic, thermal, chemical and more to help us feed the machine!

Whakatangi Puoro Make Music
ExhibitionMake Music is our exciting, new interactive and hands-on exhibition ready for little virtuosos to explore.
Create melodies and symphonies while learning about the science and technology behind sound and music. Play with vibration and noise patterns and discover the answers to the important questions of how sound works, what makes it work and why it matters. The only rule in Make Music - be as loud as you can!
Little maestros can make a medley, strum sounds or break a beat with a variety of interactive and fun activities.
Te Kōtiu: An immersive digital experience
Be surrounded by the sights, sounds and stories of flight in New Zealand with Te Kōtiu, an award-winning immersive digital experience.
From the migration of our native Kuaka, to celebrating the growing diversity within the aviation and space industries, Te Kōtiu (meaning to swoop) showcases key moments in aviation in Aotearoa with stunning immersive digital projection throughout the Aviation Hall.
