Let your imagination run wild with construction kits, foam wedges, and even yoga-inspired human bridges. Explore historic photos from MOTAT’s collection while building your own structures using Constructables. In the Imagination Playground — build a network of tunnels and bridges for different animals and vehicles to travel through.

In the Aviation Hall, discover natural, animal-made, and man-made tunnels across Aotearoa. Enjoy hands-on activities like a tunnel-themed sorting game and conservation tracking tunnel challenges.

Whether you're stacking, sorting or constructing — there’s something for everyone these school holidays at MOTAT.

Te Puawānanga Science and Technology Centre

In our award-winning Science and Technology Centre - Te Puawānanga, honour Matariki with a range of activities to celebrate the Māori New Year. Make a digital wish for the New Year to Hiwa-i-te-rangi (the star of wishes and aspirations), and see the beautiful artwork of Huriana Kopeke-Te Aho on display. Create stars, weavings, colouring-in and so much more.

In Te Manawa Science Alive Magic Box, take part in the construction Design Challenge where young engineers can put their skills to the test by building their very own bridge — complete with inspiring images of real Aotearoa bridges from across the motu.

Be surrounded by the sights, sounds and stories of flight in New Zealand with Te Kōtiu, an award-winning immersive digital experience.

From the migration of our native Kuaka, to celebrating the growing diversity within the aviation and space industries, Te Kōtiu (meaning to swoop) showcases key moments in aviation in Aotearoa with stunning immersive digital projection throughout the Aviation Hall.
