September Holiday Activities
Where Are We? tells the tales and demonstrates the technology of navigation in Aotearoa, and the different ways people have used it to discover new places and spaces. Kids can become expert navigators and learn how to make a compass, use the augmented reality sandbox and follow the map trail.
Te Kōtiu Digital Experience
Start your trip at the Aviation Hall, and immerse yourself in our exciting new digital experience, Te Kōtiu. See history come to life across our aviation collection with animation, video and photography.
Watch bold balloonists, pioneer aviator George Bolt, and the extraordinary feats of leading Aotearoa aviators like Jean Batten. Run and jump your way around the world with moving floor projections and listen to inspiring messages from female trailblazers such as Air New Zealand pilots and aerospace start-up engineers.
Interactive New Zealand Police Helicopter
Perfect for children, the Aviation Hall also has an interactive New Zealand Police helicopter. This hands-on experience not only educates but also entertains, providing a closer look at the operational aspects of police aviation. It's a fun and engaging way for kids to learn about the important role helicopters play in law enforcement and public safety, and experience the thrill of aviation in a safe environment.
Free heritage tram rides, and much more!
Jump on a heritage tram and head to MOTAT Great North Road to check out even more school holiday activities and enjoy our transport and telecommunications exhibitions, or get hands on with the building blocks of engineering with our exciting and family friendly exhibition, Machine Makers.
