Tram Information

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please be aware that from 10 February to 10 April essential upgrade works will take place on the tramway between MOTAT Great North Road and the Aviation Hall on Motions Road. You will still be able to ride a tram every day during the works programme, but the route will be shorter and trams won’t go all the way to the Aviation Hall. Trams will travel from Great North Road to the tram stop outside the zoo and back.

An alternative bus services will operate on weekends (SAT&SUN) and public holidays.

OUR POPULAR MOTAT TRAM RIDES ARE FREE FOR EVERYONE!

MOTAT tram rides are free for you and your family to enjoy! They are the best and most beautiful way to travel around the Te Wai Ōrea, Western Springs Precinct. You can transport yourself from one museum site to another and get the full MOTAT experience.

MOTAT is famous for our operational Collection items, our Daniel Adamson & Co. Boiler powered Pumphouse, our fleet of vintage Trams and our historic village are just a few of the experiences we love to share with visitors.

To keep these heritage items operating and in their best condition we must undertake general maintenance on occasion. Whenever possible we will have this work done outside normal opening hours and will always strive to minimise any disruption to your experience when you visit us.
